Description:
Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world.
IES Nantes is the perfect program for students seeking rapid progress in French through immersion into a French provincial city. Just two hours by train from Paris, Nantes is close enough to allow quick visits, yet maintains a distinctly French identity free from tourist crowds. The IES Nantes program is the only U.S. study abroad program in the city and enjoys a close relationship with the University de Nantes. IES students are automatically registered at the University de Nantes, where they may enroll in courses, join clubs, and have access to all of its facilities. The IES Nantes Center is located just a few blocks from the historic center of the city and is the ideal setting for French language and area studies classes designed to increase students' written and verbal fluency. The program features a strict 'French Only' language policy, accommodations with French families, and small classes. The program enrolls 40 to 45 students each semester.
