Description:
Each summer, the Center for Cross-Cultural Study offers students with an interest in teaching and Spanish the chance to gain valuable professional experience while studying abroad in Seville, Spain. The Practicum in Education combines the study of the Spanish language with a for-credit internship in Education. This unique internship is a financially viable option for study abroad, offering tuition-free course credit during the month of July, as well as an extra week of room and board free of charge.
Students enrolled in this program work as Teacher's Assistants in CC-CS's Playschool program for Spanish children aged 4 to 12. In addition to receiving formal instruction in English, the children learn about the U.S. culture through arts & crafts, technology, games and theme week activities. The Center for Cross-Cultural Study's Mission Statement: The mission of the CC-CS is to promote our students' in-depth understanding of Spanish-speaking countries, through specifically designed academically rigorous university-level programs. We consider all of our students to be willing to cross cultural boundaries, to live as members of another culture, and to thus, learn about others as they learn about themselves.
In accordance with our mission to encourage our students to cross cultural boundaries, CC-CS promotes equal opportunities within our programs and does not discriminate on the basis of an individual's race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, age, physical ability, gender, sexual orientation, or other characteristics. We believe in educating students on cultural tolerance and sensitivity, acceptance of differences, inclusiveness, and how diversity is viewed in other cultures.
