Description:
This program is for upper-level management and business students. Each student is assigned to a carefully selected commercial or financial firm. Students assume full-time positions with their assigned companies and work under the direct supervision of a managing executive. The mix of sponsors can change from year to year. Companies that participated in the past: include Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Dean Witter, Chase, Price Waterhouse Coopers, and Toshiba/Carrier. At least once each week students gather to hear a guest speaker and to share their experiences in a social setting. Students find their own housing in London.
The program runs for seven weeks. During the first week students are guided to available rental housing opportunities, oriented to the London business and social environment, and matched with firms. Every effort is made to place interns in positions that match their primary career interests, although this cannot be guaranteed.
For the next six weeks, students work for their assigned companies. Some firms rotate the student intern through several departments, while others emphasize a more focused experience in a single department. Each student's work assignment and experience will be unique; all students will gain the invaluable experience of performing meaningful work in a financial or commercial environment.
Qualifications / Skills Needed:
Participants must have completed at least three years of college in a program that includes management courses. Although most interns are business or management students, serious and highly motivated students of other majors will be given full consideration.
